Third Bike Sharing Service Soon Available in Brno
The competition in the bike sharing industry of Brno is increasing. A third company called Futupilot is about to launch its own 150 orange-black bikes in the streets of the city.
So far the two shared bikes providers Rekola and Velonet have been offering their services in Brno. Rekola’s 50 bikes are distincted by their pink color and Velonet has another 50 red bikes in the their own parking spots across the city. Rekola has been operating in the city since 2014. Today, it covers a large are offering also annual membership for 1199 CZK.
Daniel Kojnok, the person behind the project of Futupilot said for Brnensky Denik that Futupilot is aiming to offer more simple services without the requirement of membership. The bicycles will be borrowed by the mobile app and users will be able to use their credit cards to rent the bikes.
Brno citizens are interested in bike sharing/renting as Rekola reported over 15.000 rentals last year and Velonet counted more than one thousand memberships since its launch earlier this year. Velonet plans to add 50 more bikes and 16 more stands across the city soon.
Users will be able to choose between three bike providers from the middle of August. The three providers offer slightly different services, pricing and billing methods; citizens and tourists will have the option to choose the best for them.
