City to Invest CZK 4 Million in Purchase of New Ambulance

At a meeting on Wednesday, the City Council approved a proposal for the allocation of CZK 4 million to the South Moravian Region’s Emergency Medical Service (ZZS JMK), which will pay for a new ambulance. The City Assembly must now also approve the proposal. Photo: ZZS JMK, for illustrative purposes.

Brno, Jan 27 (BD) – The ambulance will be purchased following a tendering process, to be launched by ZZS JMK in March of this year. The vehicle is expected to be delivered in November 2019.

Commenting on the decision, Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík said that, “Last Autumn the City of Brno agreed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the South Moravian Region, the Emergency Medical Service of the region, and Úrazová nemocnice [“Trauma Hospital”] in Brno. Together we agreed that our goal is to maintain accessibility and high standards of health care throughout the region, and one of the steps required is to buy a new fully equipped ambulance for South Moravian paramedics.”

Vehicles of this kind are an essential element of medical care, but they are in operation continuously, and therefore sustain a lot of wear and tear and need to be replaced regularly.
