Brno, May 10 (BD) – The research project, in its 11th year in 2019, summarizes all the important information and statistical data which guides discussions on the development of the business environment in the Czech Republic. In total, 205 cities and 22 city districts were evaluated. The top ranked city for business was Prostějov, with Humpolec placed second. Brno received the Bronze Award, which was collected by council member Marek Fišer (Piráti) at a ceremony in the Letenský Chateau in Prague on May 7.

The report was welcomed by senior figures from the council. Mayor Marketa Vankova (ODS) said: “Open dialogue with the business sector and the development of business conditions is one of the city’s priorities. Through regular meetings, workshops and company visits, we systematically identify the needs of local entrepreneurs. In cooperation with JIC, the Brno Regional Chamber of Commerce, universities and the South Moravian region, we are able to implement specific projects that respond to these stimuli, especially in the area of attracting talent, and popularizing key economic sectors with the aim of making technical and natural sciences more attractive to students.”

Deputy Mayor Tomáš Koláčný (Piráti) added: “The city of Brno has been devoted to the systematic and long-term development of the business sector in Brno, from support for start-up entrepreneurs in incubators to business missions for small and medium-sized businesses to regular meetings of city managers in business areas. The business community is an essential part of the future development of the city. I see the award as a result of the good work of people who work with the private sector on a daily basis.”
