Brno, Aug 23 (BD) – The police have published the video of the incident from Wednesday evening as a warning to all who like to spend a lot of time on their phones. The police CCTV camera caught Wednesday’s accident of a 13-year-old boy who was hit by a tram at the pedestrian crossing on Nové sady street.

According to the police, the boy watched his cellphone and apparently didn’t see the approaching tram. “The tram driver had no chance of stopping the collision with an inattentive pedestrian,” explained police spokesman Bohumil Malášek.

“The wounded young man remained trapped under the vehicle, and the rescuers brought him out with great difficulty from under the tram. The boy was then transported to the hospital with medium serious injuries,” Malášek described the rescue operation.

Police warn that calling, playing games and watching videos on a phone or tablet distracts the pedestrian and is a frequent cause of pedestrian accidents. Likewise, listening to loud music on headphones is very dangerous.
