Brno, Dec 1 (BD) – Join the Film Music Tour or the Snow Film Fest as they take us on a stunning red carpet ride of iconic movie soundtracks and winter-themed films. Keep the chill out by trying the delicious hot food at the Gourmet Christmas market, or check out the meeting for foreigners about Czech Christmas traditions. Alongside these exciting events, there are many other events to keep you entertained, despite the drizzling rain and foggy days. Discover more below!

Celebrate the festive season by doing your bit for homeless and handicapped animals, at Útulek Tibet’s Christmas Bazaar for Rescue Animals (Vánoční charitativní bazárek pro Útulek Tibet). There are over 100 rescued dogs, cats and other animals cared for by the private non-profit shelter Útulek Tibet. Contributing a little financial support with small gifts such as caps, bracelets, and mugs is one way to help build a better home for these animals, or volunteering at the event is also a great thing to do over the Christmas holiday. The event runs for two days, on December 2nd from 11am – 9pm and on December 3rd from 10am – 8pm, at Kavárna Trojka. You can find more information on the Facebook event (in Czech) page.

The concert is guaranteed fun for the whole family, and will take place on December 2nd at Sono Music Club. Check the Facebook event (in Czech) for more information.

For cultural history buffs, or foreigners living in Brno who want to find out how Czechs celebrate Christmas, spend an evening at the Scout Institute for meeting about Czech Christmas traditions. The gathering will be a great experience connecting international students, expats, visitors and locals through the vibrant Czech traditions of Christmas, from tasting traditional dishes, decorating gingerbread cookies, predicting the future, singing carols around a decorative Christmas tree and listening to fairy tales. The event will be held in English on December 3rd. Participants are required to register in advance. You can find more information about the event at the Facebook event (in English).

Andi Schmied’s incredible artwork, combining the architectural framing of social space with physical and audio-visual production, is another hot cultural tip for this week. The “Andi Schmied Show” showcases installations, printed work and performances related to unpredictable human behaviour and urban anomalies. The exhibition will be held at Praha / Forum for Architecture and Media on December 3rd. Find more information at the Facebook event (in Czech and English).

The Snow Film Fest is an unmissable part of the Brno winter calendar, screening a selection of the greatest films about outdoor activities including cycling, climbing, and surfing, under the extreme weather of winter.
