Czech Government Moves To Make Facial Covering Compulsory In All Public Places

Government Announces New Measures to Halt the Spread of COVID-19

Czech Rep., Mar 18 (BD) [last update: 12:51pm] – “We must protect ourselves and our surroundings without exception! The government has just agreed to make it compulsory to cover your mouth and nose in all public places from midnight tonight. We can do this!” announced Czech Health Minister Adam Vojtěch on his Twitter account.

However, some regions, such as Prague and Olomouc, will be implementing this rule earlier on Wednesday, from noon.

From March 19th, only staff and people over 65 will be allowed in Czech grocery stores between 10am and 12 noon.

“If everything goes well and the planes get a permit, up to 30 million masks and 1.1 million respirators could arrive from China over the weekend,” Prime Minister Andrej Babis said at a press conference after today’s meeting of the Czech government.
